Halter Ranch has officially made the expansive move from Paso Robles to Texas! Today they open the doors to Halter Ranch Texas, a luxury tasting room at 8561 E US-290 in Fredericksburg, TX. Set on a stunning 32-acre, oak-studded landscape, the newest tasting room from Halter Ranch features a rich selection of wines made from 100% USDA Organic grapes and an elevated restaurant that offers seasonal, organic cuisine celebrating the Texas Hill Country's local bounty. Halter Ranch Texas is poised to be a standout destination on the booming Texas Highway 290 wine road, the main tributary of the second most visited wine region in the USA, only behind Napa Valley.

This is the premier expansion for Halter Ranch outside of their home in California. The original winery is home to a 2,700-acre nature estate and a state-of-the-art production facility in Paso Robles, located on California's Central Coast. An additional tasting room is nestled in Temecula, CA.

The Halter Ranch Texas tasting room in Fredericksburg artfully blends distinctive Texas flair with the Halter Ranch ethos. Located about one hour from San Antonio and Austin, the property honors its Texas home and invites guests to explore fine wine from organic grapes and locally sourced cuisine at the tasting room’s Restaurant H. The menu program, led by Executive Chef Paul Arangorin, is sourced from Texas and will change regularly to reflect the season. Halter Ranch is proud to work with local purveyors at all their properties, underscoring their sustainable relationship to the land in farming and winemaking.

The land's natural beauty is the property's star attraction, welcoming guests off the bustling highway and deep into the oak forest landscape lush with native flora. With the attention to modern architecture that Halter Ranch is known for, the building features a stunning tasting room and a separate dining room for guests who would like to enjoy culinary creations that complement Halter Ranch’s wines. Floor-to-ceiling windows and an inviting patio merge the indoor and outdoor into an experience to savor, and vibrant flavors complement the sweeping cinematic views of the Hill Country.

MK: What about the energy of the Texas Wine Industry inspired the growth into Texas Hill Country?

BM: The epicenter of the Texas wine industry is Fredericksburg, TX, which has a rich German heritage. It is beautiful and authentic, and the local community really celebrates this history. However, the culinary scene excites us equally as much. The very best wine regions are equally the best food regions, and Fredericksburg, TX, is establishing itself as the next major wine and food destination in America.

MK: Do you find similarities between the strengths of Paso Robles & Texas Hill Country?

BM: The craft beer and whiskey producers are especially unique to both regions, so it’s not just about the wine. This makes Paso Robles and the Texas Hill Country fantastic destinations for all to enjoy—the connoisseur and the first-timer.

MK: What can lovers of Halter Ranch look forward to with the new movements in Texas?

BM: The property's natural landscape is scattered with 400 post-oak trees offering a rare coolness in the summer. The on-site restaurant serves Texas cuisine sourced from local organic farmers. It will host wine dinners and private celebrations for any occasion throughout the year. Finally, we are releasing three new 100% Texas wines sourced from two certified organic vineyards in the High Plains—a Rose, a Sparkling Cabernet, and a still Cabernet Sauvignon.
